10/12/16- Strong Storm Approaching!

Where I was in Maple Valley, we had the worst of it on Friday. The "big" storm never materialized... at all. The winds picked up at 5:30 and then nothing by 6:30 but always less than Friday. I spent 2 weeks helping restore power in 2006, this time we never lost power. I was actually a bit disappointed that nothing happened after all that windup.

You could say the forecast was a bit...overblown.

A lot of that was because of the 2 tornados that touched down along the coast.
There were a lot of areas around here that had high winds; but high winds aren't all that uncommon down here.

How do you think this compared to the 1962 Columbus Day Storm?

My parents moved to Wa in 1963. The house we bought had a huge tree that had been topped at 14 feet due to that storm. Sad since it had a been one of a twin set. Apparently 1948 and 1880 were the other notable storm events in the NW.
