The computer for our Elios is a simple one, providing codes but no "live time" reading capabilities. Yet the wonderful electronic add ons depend on that "live time" ability for a lot of what it is designed for!
Where did you see that? If it's OBDII, as they've said, it will have "live" data.

Yes, OBD II reading capabilities, in order to obtain the fault codes, but no live streaming.

Gas-Powered Awsome, it's on their website. Part of the series they ran, including the IAV engine build.

well, ok then!
Are we sure it's ODB II and not ODB I?
I'm not sure, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anybody still making OBD-I hardware. It would be like trying and find a new i-386 computer.

That's why I also think it will be ODBII complete with OBDII-compliant data streams. I think it would cost more money to get a custom-programmed ECU that doesn't comply with the spec than to just use an off-the-shelf ECU that does comply. They could spend the money to intentionally cripple the ECU, but why?

Just searched all their sites and couldn't find any reference to OBD. Might be there, I just didn't find it.

If that is true, then that is stupid. First stupid decision they've made, IMHO.
