I don't know but I think I will be picking mine up from the factory just for the cost savings... and I have already driven from home to Shreveport and back before, so no biggie there....

I would really like to pick up my future Elio from the plant for many reasons , but 1500 miles is daunting .
Think of it as the end of one adventure as you travel to Shreveport to pick up your new Elio and the beginning of a new adventure as you drive your new Elio homeward bound.
well understood .... its about a thousand miles for us .... for us there are a couple of factors that I don't know how to handle .... the biggest is not knowing the quality of the ride .... my back is such that ride quality is critical in knowing how far we can travel in any vehicle .... I figure that by the time ours rolls off the line, there will be a great many reports from folks about how they handle and ride .... also, I'd hope that the possibility of a test drive might exist by then .... the second point is how to get down there .... the cheapest way would be to drive our pickup down there, rent a Uhaul tow dolly and bring the Elio back on it

new configuration is gonna be less than 8 gal. - I thought you were into liters ?? (30?)
while we're on metrics (which is our governments standard, but not the rest of ours) does the speedometer on the E have a metric scale?
I supposed weirder things have happened ..
.. our daughter towed her 8,000+ lb camper with it this weekend, it shouldn't have any problem with an Elio

Hey all, sorry to be negative, in reality I've given up on seeing this car in the next year or so. I also have already sent my "all in payment" to the loss column just for my own sanity. Just wondering if anyone can tell me the magical question?? When will production start? Last year at this time is was supposed to be NOW (March 2015), by the time I put my reservation it was pushed back to Sept 2015. As time has passed and some of my colleagues ask "hey what about that weird car you are supposed to get" i've told myself that it may never happen. Sadly I've been shopping around for a second vehicle since my kids are always having to borrow mine (That was my purpose of getting an Elio). So... when will we see production? Has Elio even got the plant ready to produce? I'm tired of hearing about new people joining the board, and so on... just start PRODUCTION already !! :-(
