unsure what you mean by the above

Jim
Hm. I'm considering political correctness...
According to what I can find, I am not allowed to have personal protection with me in a hotel room in MA even though I may (or may not for anyone listening) have a license for said personal protection in my home state.

while it would be wonderful if no motorcycle license/endorsement is required, to me that is a minor, manageable issue .... I have to have an upgraded license to legally tow our camper with our Sportchassis .... if getting a motorcycle license/endorsement is required, so long as we can use the Elio for the driving part of any such test, I just don't see a problem .... it might help to know that via reciprocity agreements, if a person holds a valid license to operate a given vehicle in their home state, that license is valid in all states .... laws governing wearing a motorcycle helmet don't fall under any such reciprocity agreement

Jim

Agree with everything you say above. I would not hold my breath on the hope for using the Elio for the driving part of a test. When I took my motorcycle driving test this past summer, a couple of the requirements are not possible if a person was driving the Elio. For example, on one test, you had to drive at about 12 mph and swerve at a certain line on the road and miss a cone that was over a few feet. Easily done when your tires are in line on a motorcycle, can't be done when your fronts are approx. 66" apart. :)

It's confusing, isn't it? The Elio is a motorcycle, so you have to have a mc license, so you have to take the mc driving test (and written test), but the driving skills test won't allow you to pass it if you are driving an Elio.

License tests should have something to do with the skills you need to perform whatever you are getting licensed for. Riding a conventional motorcycle and driving one with a sidecar attached are totally different. Looking at how the various states handle the difference you could come to the conclusion that the various lawmakers are clueless.

There are a few places in VA walking around with "protection" will get you in trouble as well. You would most likely survive a trip to the cape this spring with only a smile and a good line of credit. Nice place to visit. End tourist board advert.
Isn't it a bit chilly there to only have a smile on?

If that is true, it is indeed disturbing

I've read that as being true in some states .... hopefully as EM works with legislators in various states, hopefully this will be addressed
