Is there a map or list of which states currently require a motorcycle endorsement much like the helmet map?
Here's the latest I find.

I did just notice that MS is on my way home from LA and that requires a helmet. I may have to detour through AR. But then that puts me pretty far from NC where not only do I currently need a helmet, but that's where Tail of The Dragon is. Good thing this isn't coming for another year, I've got a lot of decisions to make!

Sorry @Paul D , I didn't read well enough. That is the helmet map. You were looking for an MC map. That I don't have.

while it would be wonderful if no motorcycle license/endorsement is required, to me that is a minor, manageable issue .... I have to have an upgraded license to legally tow our camper with our Sportchassis .... if getting a motorcycle license/endorsement is required, so long as we can use the Elio for the driving part of any such test, I just don't see a problem .... it might help to know that via reciprocity agreements, if a person holds a valid license to operate a given vehicle in their home state, that license is valid in all states .... laws governing wearing a motorcycle helmet don't fall under any such reciprocity agreement

In MA you need at present to have a motorcycle endorsement on your license. You can not take the motorcycle test with an Elio or a vehicle like it. I believe it is a big deal for Elio to get the sales numbers they need when the pool of potential customers gets reduced to just those with the motorcycle license. The cost in both time and $ will keep people away in droves. It makes no sense at all to require the endorsement. The skills required to drive it are no different than a car.

Then again, it's MA. I'm planning a vacation to Cape Cod this spring, but with the hoops I need to jump through to allow me to carry personal protection, if just to have it in the hotel with me, I may reconsider my vacation plans.
I know, off topic, but I've been dealing with this for a few days now, so it's a little fresh and raw.

There are a few places in VA walking around with "protection" will get you in trouble as well. You would most likely survive a trip to the cape this spring with only a smile and a good line of credit. Nice place to visit. End tourist board advert.

It's not so much my need for protection as it is my right to have it. I'm sure the cape is lovely and I'm sure we'll have a nice time.
