That is VERY interesting. What are the caveats to this shipping method... there'd have to be zero fluids in all systems, correct? Any item that relies on gravity may need to be secured, such as seat belts? Just thinking out loud here. But securing the 3 wheels to the bottom of the car's space, and it might be good to go.

But as G1 stated, most likely the reality will be they'll use existing OTR trucks and railroad shipping methods to get the vehicle close to where the reservationist lives.

One interesting aspect that I've only recently seen mentioned: if you are driving to the plant to get yours, if you live north of the "snow" line, you may be at the mercy of the weather for that part of your trip. For me that would be 300 miles on the return trip. For those of you on the coast or in the South, weather shouldn't be an issue in Jan-Mar.

I just thought of a question that relates to this thread. You won't be picking up your Elio at the factory if, you add any option other than automatic transmission. We will have to go to one of the 7 marshaling centers where the options are going to be added. Unless of course they are going to start production differently than there eventual model. I wouldn't expect all 7 centers to open at once. Do we have any information on the proposed location of there centers? The long term plan as I understand it is to produce the 7 colors and a choice to transmissions and all options are added else where.

I believe the first center will be next door to the factory and open on day 1. The others would open closer to the 60 retail stores opening (~1 year later).

G1 seems to be pretty much informed on what the current situation is and this makes sense from a logistics standpoint... I sure hope it's that way, I'd hate to have to hitchhike Billings Montana or some other coveniently located options center! ...

I am in Atlanta and am hoping ELIO will make it possible to pick up my car AT THE FACTORY and perhaps be able to watch it being built, similar to what Corvette does.
The unnecessary delivery charges would go a long way to pay for my trip.

I heard that even if you pick up your Corvette at the factory they still charge the destination charge.
