LOL and if you think any NEW product isn't going to have problems you are in for a surprise.
Just because some testing may be done on the shelf real life (in the car) testing isn't the same.
Just check out the ESTABLISHED motor companies and all the recalls. And they are SUPPOSE TO BE PRO'S.
I can hope that these boys are better that the ones before them.

I, for one, wish they would Just build the Basic unit and get it on the road, then put all that Electronic (Junk?) on it later to feed the Electronic Junkies.
Some just want the engine put in the Elio so we can drive it.lol
Just the facts, as I see it. Basic Elio = less recall.
Fewer distractions, the less Wrecked Elios.

This is the announcement I was expecting. The 'dashboard' is in that image is indeed what you would see on the app on your device.

I now also have a few more details on how the system and pricing will work:

The cost for the complete system is indeed expected to be about $1500 installed.

It is likely that there will be a much lower entry point for a base system which includes the controller module, rear view camera, and possibly a dedicated cockpit mounted display.

To the base system owners would be able to add on sensors/cameras to eventually build the complete system or only the portions of the systems they would like. The cost for this base system has not been set however it will likely be at least several hundred dollars as the controller is the key component of the entire system.

EM is working on integrating this system into an optional upgraded LCD dash so this really would be a fully integrated vehicle system.

The system does have optional support for its own dedicated cellular connection which would allow it to create a mobile hotspot in the vehicle. This would of course require a monthly bill for cellular service.
thanks for the update g1

That vehicle on the right has a very familiar shape and the mileage left on a full tank looks very familiar as well. ;)

It appears that at the bottom of the picture (just above the word Dashboard) you can select from numerous icons. The larger, centered one being the information shown above. Select the one to the right and you have GPS mapping. The one to the left could be the cameras.

I suspect the list of icon functions will be numerous and amazing. I'm not into Apple products but anything is better than...well, you know what.

This is actually one advantage of the Elio Motors way of doing things. Elio Motors is working on the base model and their suppliers are the ones developing the options and bringing them to Elio for approval and inclusion in the official options catalog so all this extra stuff really does not tie up EM's time or resources like it does normal auto manufacturers.

Yes, this system is supposed to be very capable and there are likely even more options for the system on their way. It is also supposed to be fully compatible with both Apple iOS and Android system by the time it hits the market.

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Elio Motors today announced at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) Show that it will offer the SkyzMatic vehicle connectivity system from technology innovator Infinite Skyz to provide customers connected car features including in-vehicle VoIP calling and Wi-Fi, remote vehicle monitoring and alarms, remote start and lock/unlock and navigation. The Elio ultra-high mileage vehicle, slated to launch in late-2015, will get up to 84 MPG and cost just $6,800.

The connectivity will also provide Bluetooth 4.0, in-vehicle Wi-Fi internet access, camera monitoring and logging, vehicle location monitoring and accelerometer data monitoring.

This means that those of who want a lot of connectivity, including the possibility of an ECU tune, may be in luck ...

Let's carry this a little further, Goofy.
As of yet, there is no Elio test bed for any option. Who, How, When will they test these electronic options to assure that they are compatible with the Elictronics on the base unit??
If they bring only ideas, with no actual testing, whose to say they will work without messing things up.

Yes, LockMD and I are getting ready to test this system out for everyone. Hopefully it works as well as promised. I am sure we will report back in a few weeks when we receive our systems and get a chance to try them out.
TPMS... standard in every vehicle. Not sure why it is a separate app thing. Seems it would put the tires a little out of balance and that you'd have to be really close with your phone in order to see the pressures anyway. I don't get it.... Maybe I'm just too old. I mean, I still fill my tires with AIR. Gasp! Well, the air I use IS about 78% Nitrogen...
