Elio Motors has REPEATEDLY stated that they will NOT have OPTION 'Packages', like historical auto dealers; instead they will offer 'Individual' OPTIONS so you only get/pay for what you WANT!

I highly doubt it! Once it's operational, the only way for this car to fly out of the lot is to have some cars already made some with options and some basics that's DISPLAYED TO SHOWCASE at their dealerships so the potential buyers can test drive it with options or without and then decide if they want to buy it and take it home the same day- JUST LIKE A DEALERSHIP! Other wise, their dealership will be just a PICK UP place to get their orders... don't make sense business wise!

This seems way off base from the what Elio has suggested their retail experience will be like. They seem to want to make everything easily added and/or changed. It seems that their retail locations will offer a base model then each accessory will be an additional cost. I think this will be a huge improvement over the automotive markets current solution of different predetermined trim levels. What if I want navigation, but no leather? The current system with trim levels does not offer that flexibility.

That's exactly right reading from their website. That means walking at their dealership, pick the accessories I want installed and then starts the paper works either while waiting or come back the following day to pick up my Elio. It should work. Personally, I would like everything "factory installed" so I would rather get a list of options before my Elio is assembled, give them what I want installed and then I would gladly pick it up myself. But that's just me.

One model.. As Elio Stated .. Fenders come off and others bolt on a few screws on the brace.. radio and nav=a simple radio exchange from their on the wall choices.. tilt and cruise must order when you get the notice.. Sun roof, doubt that will happen 1st year..belive me they are going to package options so doubling the price will not be hard especially with automatic transmission.. I only hope they won't try the crazy crap dealers do like $599 doc fee which I have never paid..Freight charge will probabably apply even if you do the factory pick up..Maybe , just maybe they will give the all in pre-orders a break on stuff just because we deserve it for trusting them with about 15 million bucks in up front funding..So if we get it for 10,000 dollars out the door price feel lucky.. Hell fell lucky if we get a vehicle and not being a shit clunker period,,

The whole purpose of changing the way cars are sold is to get away from the "package" idea. We ALWAYS ended paying for things we did not want to get the things we wanted and/or needed. As long as Paul Elio owns this company I don't think that is going to happen. It is totally against everything he stands for. Read the information on the website. It is all explained very clearly there. It is also one of the things I really appreciate about his business model. So enjoy your dream but I for one don't want anything to do with it. I'll wait a day or more to get exactly what I want/need on my car without paying for things I neither need nor want. Just my definitely not at all humble opionion. :-) Z

packages are designed for the benefit of the dealer, NOT the consumer. Besides Elio has contended that many of the items you list will be options on the base model. I want leather and cruise but don't give a tinkers damn about upgraded sound, much less satellite radio! Depending on the price point I MIGHT want NAV, or I might just roll my own on that. Pick and choose and build it your way.
