Show it bone stock but maybe with the AMT so journalists can actually drive it. Then, have on hand several options... maybe the Skyzmatic, an illuminated doorsill, a lighted hood ornament, an optional fender. Then, Paul can give his "I hate the bundle approach" speech and explain that you can do all this option stuff at the time of purchase or any other time as it is all designed to be changeable.

Well, maybe you'd want to include the skyzmatic system and the cameras that can record everything around the Elio. I can see Paul sitting in an interview... Close your eyes and imagine this:

Paul: Yes, I'll let you take our Red P5 for a spin. Let me check it out on my cell phone first. That's right. My Elio can show me what the parking lot looks like before I head out to it. (Shows picture from cell phone on the big screen and you can see Paul Vassilio hiding next to the Elio with a comically large foam wrench in his hand). I can see that there is someone hiding beside the car. Maybe I'd want to delay going to the parking lot at this time. Only Elio will let you see that.
Interviewer: Wow, Paul. That is too cool. Is that standard on the Elio?
Paul: No, it isn't. That is one of the options available from one of our Blue Chip suppliers. But here's the thing. Let's say you don't want to put the money into this option when you buy the vehicle but later, maybe after you've saved so much money on fuel since the Elio gets 84 MPG, you decide you'd like to have it. You can do that.
Interviewer: {with an astonished look on her face} You can?
Paul: You sure can. And what's more is that you don't have to buy an entire bundle to get it. Let's go check it out.
Did you say lighted hood ornament!

I rode my BRP to work today stopped about half way to fill up the tank (more riding later this evening) and guess what, the engine and exhaust were good and hot, and the gas tank is even plastic, I even spilled a little, and didn't blow up. View attachment 5929 :D
How were you NOT killed!?!?, geeze every time I gas up my chainsaw/lawnmower/motorcycle/go-kart/weed whacker I'm horribly immolated!

As a prior kid who lived in the country, I can tell you that gasoline can be both MORE flammable than you'd think and LESS flammable than you'd like at times. (I can also tell you that white lithium grease and a lighter makes for some fun times)

as the P6, P7, P8, and so-on become available, my bet is we will see them generating strong positive public impressions all over the country
Until they're crash tested, which is the point. Not all the Ps will be fully furnished inside, for example. These are test sleds first, marketing tools second -- except, maybe P5 and P25- P30 (I'm betting they don't stop at 25).

I think the point of the P5 - 30 is that they are 100% complete engineering prototypes both interior and exterior components. When crash tested they want to know exactly how hard a hit the Elgin dash will take and still keep ticking. I suspect the Elio will be crash tested later and the earlier P's used mostly for the engineering fit and finish, tooling the plant, marketing, and the ride and drive events so they need to be complete.

The ones (specifically built) for crash testing, might be a good place to put those extra Geo Metro motors. ;)

I can see it now, people with their Elgin voodoo dolls stuck like a pincushion when Elio starts testing. :p
