I like everything they did including the exhaust outlet. I like the longer nose as well. In the pictures there appears to be a circle that maybe the gas door. I would hope they would consider having the gas door on the other side near the car door for easy fueling. Also away from the exhaust outlet, if gas dripped down it could be an issue or maybe hot exhaust tip near your legs may be an issue. Just a thought. Otherwise I like the blue too!
Can anyone project what will happen if the auto shut-off at the gas pump fails and gas runs down and into the exhaust? Explosions, anyone?

That's all I was getting at though I used outlandish examples to prove my point. Elio could just have the first of 1,500 hired and be "in the process" of hiring more and possibly could meet the requirements. $720,000 a week for 1,500 people at $12/hr (just as a notational amount) not to mention benefits and insurance would be hard to manage without any income for very long... In fact, just that amount of money will take 720 Elios worth of production if they were correct in saying they had $1,000 of profit built into the existing price. It'll take 11 hours of full-rate production to make that payroll!
At some point sanity will prevail. If Elio is actively hiring and is paying some significant fraction of the promised number of workers, there would be no reason to fine them so stiffly that they CEASE paying altogether and go belly up. My guess is that if EM is clearly moving ahead and is actually hiring, they'll get a couple of months additional grace. The point of the penalties is to make sure EM is serious and delivers on their promises. It's not to put a budding font of jobs out of business.

I recall reading that the gas filler location was placed there as a cost savings decision. Can anyone tell me how one side or the other is cheaper to manufacture? Is there some structure we don't see under the skin that would prevent the gas cap to be on the driver's door side? Would like to know.

I don't think there are any Elio engineers actively on this site.
You might try over at https://www.facebook.com/ElioMotors,
or maybe https://www.eliomotors.com.
They say it saves $10.

Paul said they save $10 in pipe per vehicle by placing it where it is. His words, not mine. He's trying to meet the $6800 price point.

And once again we are discussing things as if they are graved in stone without seeing the fine print. All we have is the minutes of the folks on Caddo Parish who are busy trying to knife each other in the back for their own political advantage. (Oh wait, they are politicians) Back when that came out there was also discussion about whether extensions or modifications might happen.
Just saying what was stated for public record as the requirements of the contract. Not that that matters these days.

Actually I've been considering whether my Volvo is really an Elio because after all this time it identifies with the Elio, you know, "transvehicular". Kind of like Rachel Dolezal.:rolleyes::D Nothing is set in stone.

Not the same guy.

Yes, The guy who is upset is Caddo Parish Commissioner Michael Williams who is Indicted for Stealing from a Non-Profit. 12 counts of wire fraud.

He is upset because he accuses another commissioner of getting work with Elio. Commissioner John Escude has been doing contract work for Comau, an Elio sub contractor.
