I wouldn't bet the bank on it. It's all positive, but here's a new slant that might provide one explanation.
I think this is in anticipation of possibly not being able to meet the $6800 goal at the start of production.
I think it may insure that, whether the price goal is met or not, we early "all-ins" are rewarded...
By being allowed to pay a bottom line that is as close to that original advertised goal as possible.
Basically a "promise" met by interpretation.

Almost all of us have said or thought it.
Even EM has said that they're still short of reaching their price goal.
The Elio's official price may likely be a few hundred above the target at the start of production.
I, for one, still anticipate paying around a $6300 bottom line base price after my bonuses.

Think about it.
We "all-ins" have our bonus. No, scratch that now... most of us have our bonuses.
It will only feel completely equitable to newbies if everyone pays the same basic price.
If EM honors the $6800 target price but, in doing so, loses money on not only the early opters...
But also on the untold thousands who rush to buy during the completion of the early opters' sales...
It may prove to be a bit of a problem.

It may just a play on words in a sense.
But it's extremely important that public perception, us, and the newbies consider it all to be as fair and honorable as possible.
Of course, I hope you're right and they actually do achieve the price goal. :D

Lately I get the feeling that Paul might have taken our advice and engaged the services of a PR firm.

However...
Be it a simple play on numbers or not...
I am extremely grateful for, once again, being considerately pre-thinned from the future thundering herd.

Totally plausible, especially if money said to PE, we'll fund you, but we want to see the MSRP closer to "X" so we "Y" for a return, etc.

Both houses controlled by the Republicans, oh no!, perhaps that's the same reason we haven't seen the ATVM Loan approval move forward on the Federal level along with NADA's political influence.

Not only NADA but GM, Ford, Toyota et al who collectively have no interest whatsoever in a super low priced vehicle.
Let's not forget these boys pay for an army of highly paid, very effective lobbyists.

I was thinking, that the game would be greatly tilted toward success if there actually were Elio's out and about running up and down the streets and roads of good old US of A. So possibly this could be one facet why the extra bonus, and also a token toward keeping the core owners group engaged and onboard for the eventual reveal. Last rumblings I heard about production were still about 12 month away.

Yes get ELIO on the road in private hands and then watch the numbers go up. PE would have a lot of people working for him at no cost. We would gladly show it off some of us would even allow others to drive it. If nothing else get 50 ,100 running around the US not doing one show here and there hit it ago. Do them everyday some where one after another. At this point PE has not sold 1 ELIO. Those of us that got on board were not sold on the idea we were already waiting or it. We are the low hang fruit the ones PE did not have to earn. Now the game gets real you have to really sell it. This is a big reason there are no real true investors that can carry the load yet.
One problem and a big one ELIO has no money.

In that light Smitty, I saw another Slingshot today two blocks from the house.
They must be scrambling to keep up with demand.

Interesting, I've not heard Slingshot is selling all that well.
Not sure what the figures are John, but that makes two personal sightings in 6 days, and I don't get out much.
My point was, of course, to give an example of Smitty's 'Get them on the road and the public will come running'.
We are often creatures of the herd. If this many people also think that a vehicle I've always thought was cool is cool...
And those vehicles keep nagging and reminding me of how much I really like them by appearing seemingly everywhere...
I'm going to be much more apt to inpulse buy.

Not to even mention the amount of people who's first exposure to the Elio will be from seeing one in the wild.

I have a Slingshot and absolutely love it, but with the summer about here in Arizona, it will be in the stable for awhile. Have to understand, this is a completely different animal than they Elio. This is basically a 27,000 toy, at least it is for me, but I can see some folks using as a daily driver if mother nature is kind. I think they are selling well because they are not discounting them at dealerships yet.

If you think about it Elio and Polaris are completely different companies in regards to size and financially fit. Polaris is a huge cash cow, and their stock went from 37.50 on 2011 to 146.52 as of today. They can afford to take chances and be ahead of the pack. Their Rzr's are the best UTV's made, and outsell all others combined.

Hey Polaris, if you are reading this, hook a brother up and buy a huge stake in Elio, then you can have both spectrum's of the 3 wheel market.

Not sure how the Slingshot is doing I know the Spiders is doing well. Polaris with the Sling shot does not have to make a profit right away they can afford to wait and build the market. They have run into issues with a couple states Texas was one I heard they have the issue resolved.
I have seen two Sling shots on the road both were being driven by older adults . They were in an area where you can bet the cost was not much of an issue. The CanAM Spider was marketed to the motorcycle crowd It is priced in the range of most good touring bikes so it fits in as an option for touring bike replacement. Many older riders have problems with the weight of a full size Touring bike. The Spider has found a market. Being rear wheel drive it is a fair weather Motorcycle.
Polaris has it hands full now. With the Slingshot, Victory motorcycle and Indian they have went out on a limb . It should work out for them if people have the cash or credit to buy their dream toys.
Polaris may have a day of reckoning coming as a Polaris ATV owner it is not what they once sold, lot of issues and warranty is worthless.
ELIO has a market IMO. They just need to get them out there. ELIO number 8019 your parking spot is ready any time .
