While they're sometimes identical, they aren't always.
Sometimes those same factories will produce multiple versions of the same product for different companies, often with different tolerances and QC.
For instance, check out this bench mill - made by Seig in China from:
Harbor Freight
Grizzly
MicroMark
etc.
Exact same machine, same manufacturer, but also slightly different build quality and different prices.

LOL. I had a 96 Isuzu Hombre, which is mostly Chevy S10. I really loved that truck!

Hey, I helped put those together in 1998 at the Shreveport Plant! The Hombres used a different hood that arrived in big crates that sometimes had creepy crawlies in there.

The Chevy LUV pickup was an Isuzu.

Read a lot here that the plant was the most modern, was 1998 new at the time?

It was modernize just recently.

96 was when they started using the chevy motors instead of the Isuzu. As well as the differentials. The steering wheel and a couple of electronics still said Isuzu, but most of the rest was S10.

we had a Chevy LUV Truck and kept it for several years .... looking back, it had the most uncomfortable ride of any vehicle I've ever owned .... I don't remember it ever giving us any trouble .... over the years we've had several cars/trucks that in retrospect I hate parting with but the LUV isn't among them
