So there is a viable chance we get 40k reservations on next update. Just my feeling it will be very close.
I think reservations may have spiked a bit at the engine news but slammed head on into a wall at the latest delay. If I weren't all in, I would not be considering an upgrade at this point. There's no advantage. Sure, I may get a car a few weeks (maybe months) before the next guy, but I don't consider that possibility worth the risk of maybe losing a grand.
I think reservations are going to grind to a very slow crawl.

Yeah... would have stayed at $500 but I upgraded one night before the delay announcement. Can't help but feel a little suckered; I just hope they get built one day.

I'm still pretty confident that it will happen, but the wind has certainly been taken out of my sails and my enthusiasm dropped.

Good point, but 40k will happen soon enough, fortunately, what we have now is about all that was needed to warrant year 1 funding and production.

Seriously, posting news about the engine and THEN announcing the delay made it feel even worse. Switching those events around wouldn't have been as bad I think. I'm not one of the people saying that it's all over, but my confidence has definitely taken a hit along with my excitement.

I agree. At least switching the news would have left us with an upbeat feeling. Now we're left with bad news as the last news we heard.
