Apparently the gauges on the dash, and where the gas cap is located, are the two most controversal item about this vehicle based on the number of post on those two subjects. This gauge one has 360 post, and I gave up counting on the gas cap thing. We're still a year away from production. These two subjects get more discussion than whether or not you will need a motorcycle lic. to drive the thing, and when will the engine be finished.

I totally agree. My wife and I have two cars, her gas cap is on one side and mine the other. So what !?!

The instrument cluster is important. Especially for some of us old(and afluent) farts who don't see as well as we use to. The gas filler, not so much. With 600+ mile range and an eight gallon tank you won't be inconvenienced very often or for very long at a time.
I resemble those remarks and I don't disagree. I just think we should wait and see what he will come up with before we start complaining about something we haven't seen yet. I am not a fan of that pictured dash either, but what I read said it would be along those lines, not that one. And I refuse to talk any further about the stupid gas cap. If that dash upsets people so much, they should address it on Elio's Facebook page, where his actual staff answer the question about it. If enough people address it there the people that have the power to change it would probably listen, rather than bitching on a forum.

From that view, it actually reminds me of the "face/head" of the robot in the movie "Short Circuit" back in the eighties!

Even if we do get a not so great version of the Elgin as the final dash hopefully we will get an OBD-II port so we can use a head-up display such as the Navdy. With some sort of HUD installed I don't care what the dash looks like as I won't be looking at it much anyhow.

Based on the passion of all the posts on this subject, I doubt anybody is going to be very happy with that dash regardless of any after market gadgets. Hopefully Elio gets enough feedback on facebook to convince them to change it. If the public beat the subject to death on facebook, the way they do on this forum, I doubt whether Elio would have much choice but to rethink that choice. Problem is, most the old folks, that this dash would be an issue to, do not subscribe to facebook. Problem for Elio is, most the reservation holders are us old folks. But you can tell by the way people think that whining on this forum, about not liking which side the gas cap is on, that it is going to affect change. Now on facebook ,which is where potential buyers would be viewing, would be a different story, as enough complaints could affect future reservations. Just my humble opinion.

Let the old and affluent engineer, Paul Elio have his Elgin Dash if he wants it....it's his car design. Just give in! We will be saying at some point in the near future...........nice dash. Hopefully, reading an Elgin dash isn't a driver's licensing requirement along with the vision test.
