On item 5, I've never studied the P4 as close as many of you have. Apparently it has the ABS/traction-stability control on it? Has it always had it, or was it upgraded before the ins meetings?

I ask because as far as I know, it's never been run publicly at speed, just city street speeds.

The Elio P4 does NOT have traction control on it. Bosch is making that and the P5 WILL have it. (if I remember correctly)

I am surprised Pep Boys is not showing off the Elio at all their stores. Being the official service center for a large vehicle company gives Pep Boys much more credibility and allows them to expand into new areas.

You would think Elio was not really that excited about Pep Boys.
It has to do with the outgoing CEO being cautious about Elio (startups do fail on occasion) and the fact that he was stepping down and didn't want to upset the stock market. Now that the new CEO is installed, we should see more movement. Jerome said Pep Boys was excited about Elio and we should see more involvement soon.

If that's the case, and the IIHS story is correct, the E must be a well mannered (and fun to drive) machine indeed!

Either that, or there is another top secret test E out there with all the electronic aid doodads...

Keep in mind the Elio is Front Wheel Drive.
The Sling Shot is Rear Wheel Drive.
Big difference.........

Traction control would be nice and I have plans for EPS also. I installed EPS on my Dunebuggy........... from a G1 Insight.

After driving a Saab back in the early eighty's, I made a vow to never drive/own anything but a 4x4 or at least a front wheel drive for the rest of my life. I was made fun of by most of my racing buds but as I told them they don't race in the snow . now back to the game.

Sure wish they would come to a PepBoys in DFW. I know multiple DFW PepBoys store managers and employees and I can say almost definitively that almost nobody at/with PepBoys knows ANYTHING about the Elio outside of a few of them.

Actually the only reason I even know about the Elio is through my brother who stumbled upon some internal PepBoys propaganda about it. There was just one little blip of a line in some internal PepBoys stuff about it and he started asking around and nobody knew anything about it (outside of, I assume, very high level corporate people making such agreements) or even seemed to care. My buddy (PepBoys Speedshop manager) actually asked Elio to visit his Speedshop grand opening car show a year or so back but that was a no-go.

To this date they both state that PepBoys never mentions anything whatsoever about the Elio to any employees (at least to the entire DFW region). My brother and buddy only know about it due to their own personal curiosity/interest.
