Will Other Drivers See Us?

I have not had the pleasure of viewing one of the Elio test mules in person...

But...as I researched the vehicle specification...I came across a couple of photos of the test mule in traffic...

I was surprised how low to the ground it sits...driver visibility seems impaired...and certainly not very visible to other vehicle operators in adjacent lanes of traffic...especially if they're operating SUV's...

Any thoughts?

what is it they say about great minds thinking alike .... OK, not exactly alike .... I was thinking of a 102" fiberglass CB antenna with a flag .... yep, pure redneck ..

It's also why you make sure you have full coverage; and the first question you ask them after they hit you is (remember to stay in your Elio and don't move) "how good is your insurance?" <heheheh>

You are a lot safer than on a motorcycle....

Lot safer than a motorcycle not as safe as a car. But it looks right at home out there.

I thought the clearance issue came up months ago on this site or fb. I think the P4 has lower ground clearance than the intended production model. I think they stated the clearance should be similar to any compact car. There was one article that said similar to Ford Mustang and I've seen 5-3/4" clearance stated.

I don't remember the reason (most likely covered in one of the Tech Talks) but I do know the P4 is lower to the ground than the production model will be. I have the same impressions in my 1999 Camry when I am among SUVs and Pickups. It doesn't worry me in the least. I simply remain alert and watch for aggressive driving - a practice that sometimes goes hand in hand with large vehicles. :-) Z
