Where Did 84 Mpg Come From?

Lets look at the truth for a moment here. a number of randomly selected cars have to be pulled off the assembly line for testing. These vehicles get driven in a lab environment... Are some of us "lying" to themselves?

A perfect lab environment creating normal driving conditions for randomly selected vehicles........does't get any better than that. Whatever the mpg testing process is..............it is what it is. MPG ratings on all of my cars have been within a couple miles per gallon........give or take.

Pretty simple, really.... Searching the net for information on Elio we find that the first production date for the Elio was 2010 (if I remember the number incorrectly, the point is that it was several years ago). And here we are in 2014 where - at least since I've been watching - Elio has been bumping the release date 3 months every 90 days.

Thus, I conclude that Elio - who is by their own admission short of the start up capital required to go into production - is caught in a death spiral of underfunding and hoping that a White Knight will come in with a crapload of cash and save them. At this stage in the game I don't think that's likely to happen.... so I predict failure.

Mind you, I'd love to be wrong, but that's my heart speaking; not my mind.

I would like to make some "minor" corrections to your "facts" as I see them.

OLD, OLD NEWS. Recently, they have said that "funding is not a concern" & they are "on track" and "confident that this will happen"
"death spiral of underfunding"...REALLY?...Recently, they have said that current funding is adequate to sustain operations.

Someone recently referred to this group as "pot watchers"...honestly, he is right! We come here every day, watching and waiting for little bits of progress. Most of us have lived long enough to know that "a watched pot eventually DOES boil!"
To those who are driven crazy doing this...don't come here so often. Watch the news! you'll get your updates. My 2 cents

I like your clear thinking on this but You and I need to patent the idea and sell it as a training seminar. We'd make a killing. The telling of the truth remains to be verified though.

Thank you for your response to my post. And yes the business world believes sadly that customers are like sheep. Tell them just about anything to get that fast but never repeated sale. Don't know where honesty has gone but sure do miss it. And that is where I believe Elio motors will find success. By stating exactly what there car will deliver. A inexpensive car that will get them far on a gallon of fuel. Plane unadulterated truth. What a concept !!!!!
