If Elio doesn't offer something like this there will probably be an easy aftermarket solution, and if there's not then I have a friend who builds race cars and is good with fabrication.

Considering Elio Motors will sell more units in the first year than the Can-Am Spyder has sold since they were introduced I would say it is a safe bet we will see plenty of aftermarket options. It will also help that the Elio is so inexpensive as it leaves plenty of money for customization.
Personally I like the enclosed P4 fenders however I always add extra LED lights to my motorcycles for looks and safety so I will likely customize my Elio with some kind of fender lighting package also.
Another option, substituting the fenders for the swoopy (my term) style that was popular on 1930's classic cars.

Those look like you got them off an Indian motorcycle
headlights in fenders may sound ok but not well thought out. As you go down the road they will bounce and vibrate considerably because they are unsprung, this will drive both you and oncoming drivers nuts. Those worried about drivers passing too close , if you are in your lane what are they doing in your lane? You have bigger problems.
Now that is a cool custom Elio and it does not appear to be very hard to pull off. This car is so inexpensive it will leave plenty of people with extra money for customization and I can't wait to see what kind of cool, and weird, designs people come up with.

I did one thing to my new truck. Got a sprayed-in liner. And that got me to thinking...for $500 I can get the outside sprayed in about any color I want! That alligator skin mat finish might really make it freaky-deeky....scare the shit out of people doing drugs, they will think Judge Dredd is coming to get em.

I was thinking about making fake eye-lashes for the headlights and around the front air opening make a big set of pink lips, and on the back have a sticker that reads "Junk in the trunk".
