Frank, Congratulations on your low number and for being one of the earlier supporters of the Elio. Glad you found the forum because it has friendly members and tons of information about the Elio. We try to keep it friendly, informative, and entertaining and look forward to your comments, questions, and opinions. Enjoy both the journey and experience.#2345
Jim,
Thanks so much for the warm welcome.
It has to be friendly and FUN for sure!
Welcome FrankHoliday,
If you are going to the plant for pick up of your Elio... we could be seeing each other.. should be about the same day or so for pick up.... for us...
I sure hope EM is going to do the "Casino deal" with the 3 days two nights on EM, with a one-way airplane ticket stub to show them so you can get the 3 day stay.. then you go on the 2 day tour of the plant... with day 3 picking up your Elio and hitting the roads... very happy day... looking forward to it... like you, we will have been waiting for Apparently the Shreveport plant has 7 paint booths and EM has determined that the most cost efficient way to run these paint booths is one color per paint booth so that's where they get 7 total colors.
We have also been told that at some point EM may entertain the idea of limited runs of an alternative color choice where one color would be replaced with another. Another option for EM would be to use one booth as GM used it which would allow for multiple colors to be painted in that one booth however as this is a less efficient process these colors would likely all be premium colors available as options. I would not look for them to do any of this in the first year and likely even longer. over 2 years for this great day...
Glad you found this site... a lot of great people are here... from all over the US... all waiting in line for a better way to travel...
Proud to Be.. an Elio owner #2225 MMCCXXV see ya on the road...
I thought this was just a wouldn't-it-be-cool-if type thing. I had no idea someone was actually taking it serious let alone considering it. This would be pretty cool. This was mentioned by someone in Charlotte and the response was that it is still in the plans however no final decisions have been made just yet. They also said that EM has initiated some level of initial contact with the casino hotels in the area and apparently received very positive feedback. I am sure EM would receive some very favorable rates for bringing in all those excited and happy customers on a regular basis. The first year will likely be especially good as I am sure a fairly large percentage of reservation holders will opt for factory pickup which will likely mean that several of the hotel and casinos would benefit from this plan.
