The composite material would be much quieter than metal and less prone to carry vibrations through the car. I wonder if they will undercoat the Elio.

Not to beat the subject to death, but this is why I wondered if there is enough metal in the floor to trigger the traffic sensors in the pavement at traffic lights. You pointed out the composite material will form the floor pan and thus the bars will be the only metal in the floor.
I did too have some problems with ground sensors, and do remember ( of course not the specifics) of purchasing "a small something" that, when placed under the bike was enough to kick in the sensor.
Don't ya just love it when someone stops just pass the sensor, and sits, and sits, until someone comes along behind them. Almost witnessed an accident when a frustrated driver went out in traffic, and almost got t boned

I have five motorcycles, 1971 1980, 1982, 1998 and 2008 with engine sizes ranging from 440cc to 1200cc. Not a single one of them will trigger any vehicle detector loop in New York State that I have found. I will be sending a registered letter to NYS this winter informing them that, when riding one of my motorcycles, I will treat all traffic signals as malfunctioning (like a stop sign) unless and until they can demonstrate via a qualified third party that any and all vehicle detector loop controlled intersections in NYS can be triggered by any and all legally registered motor vehicles.
I expect this will create quite an uproar as copies will be sent to various news media as well - but I am sick and tired of sitting at intersections waiting for a car to pull up behind me so I may proceed

I expect I will, hence the registered letter to show to the judge - NYS vehicle and traffic law allows one to proceed as I described at a malfunctioning controlled intersection. I'm just gonna push it a bit...

looking forward to hearing how it goes

Don't forget to take a copy of the letter so you can show the officer your letter, and how you arrived at your decision to treat a perfectly operational light as "malfunctioning" . Unless he/she is a relative, stand back so they won't land on you from laughing too hard.
Then with moving violation ticket in hand, and your letter, be sure to show it to the traffic court, -great plan!!
A few more unsuccessful attempts, and you'll be riding a bicycle- I think NY has a point system?
