Turbo-charging .9 Liter Elio Engine

The Elio motor is 3 cylinder yes, but that's pretty much where the similarity ends, it's a completely new design internally; 12:1 compression, long stroke and runs on regular unleaded with no knock. The head design; including cooling and oiling are all redesigned; so taking an "off the shelf" model of turbo is not going to work. Please do a search through the forum about turbo for the Elio, this topic has had a lot of long discussions about it; and how EM plans on making it available.

I did not say it was the same, what I said is that it can give you good milage and power. If the turbo was designed to work with the engine. The Fiesta engine was designed with a turbo, it is a totally new design. The Fiesta engine also runs on regular fuel, the compression is less at 10:1.

Since all the options are dealer installed perhaps the dealer could make the turbo or supercharger an option. As of now thing I would rather just concentrate on the base Elio so we can have them as early as possible.

It will be, PE stated at the time the motor was going through it's fist bench run that the turbo would be an option for Gen II Elios, and you would be able to retro fit it on Gen I's but until Gen II is ready, so will be the turbo (Gen I first, Gen II later, Turbo when Gen II's are rolling off the line <aka a long time away>)

Ya think? I don't know if the exhaust from the Elio motor would be enough to spin it.

The "biggest" turbo I have seen was 6 ft. in dia, from an ocean liner diesel engine.

The turbo lag could be measured in weeks, not quarters?
