I don't lose sleep worrying about it. Little to no chance anyone's going to take you to court on a truthful review. Plus my attorney's license gives me some comfort. :D
I agree; he's just trying to rattle you because his feelings are hurt.
Did he send the same message to everyone else that gave him a bad review?
The court system is already packed with bogus law suits, if they added in suing people for bad reviews, your case wouldn't be heard for about 50+ years.

Dang! I was just sent an email by an angry online retailer threatening to sue me because I put up a review that he didn't like. My review was factual and even stated things that were good about his product but stated matter of fact that it did not work as advertised for me. He considered this slander and is referring it to his lawyer for defamation. REALLY!!!

What is next? Hopefully nobody will start suing Elio forum users for saying things they don't agree with.
Send us who it is and we'll all gang up on them with ton of reviews too. LOL

Just remember, folks. There are costs to suing someone. Even filing a lawsuit in the first place costs money. Lots of people rattle their sabers but ultimately don't do anything.
Defamation is one of those things people threaten others with all the time. But it seldom pays off (unless you're Hulk Hogan).

Did you tell someone the review or is it written? The movie Spiderman taught me one thing... Slander is oral, Libel is written... (He can consider it slander all he wants... it isn't... he can consider it a pumpkin pie and would be just about as correct)

Here, it's defined better:

Libel and slander are both forms of defamation. Defamation is a common law tort, governed by state law, in which an individual makes a "publication" of a defamatory statement of and concerning the plaintiff that damages the reputation of the plaintiff. The distinction between slander and libel comes in the form of the publication.

Slander involves the oral "publication" of a defamatory remark that is heard by another, which injures the subject's reputation or character. Slander can occur through the use of a hand gesture or verbal communication that is not recorded. Libel, on the other hand, is the written "publication" of a defamatory remark that has the tendency to injure another's reputation or character. Libel also includes a publication on radio, audio or video. Even though this would be considered oral, or verbal, communication to someone it is actually considered to be libel because it is published in a transfixed form.

Easy way to remember:

Slander = Say it
Libel = Label it (in writing, print or email)
