great find-
Was reminded about the EV from Chevy- was never sold from what I recall, but "loaned " to folks- - Danny Devito"?, EVERYONE loved 'em, they tried to prevent Chevy from taking them back. They (Chevy) rounded them all up and proceeded to crush 'em all. There were protests outside the lot where they stacked them up.- people were crying!
think it might have been a Netflix doc.

They make some of these innovations sound better than sliced bread. In my opinion, two of these don't live up to the hype in the article:

12: Dual Clutch Transmission, 2003
Billed as having all the advantages of an automatic without any of the drawbacks. Ask some 2012-2014 Ford Focus owners how they feel about their DCTs in stop-and-go driving. I fully understand their advantage in efficiency over "wet" automatics but sometimes the execution sucks.

9: Mandatory Tire Pressure Monitoring, 2000
We get to put up with the added expense of maintaining these sensors so a few lazy people don't have to check their tire pressures. This system makes running separate wheels and tires in the winter a pain in the ass. I'm not a VW fan but they got it to work without pressure sensors.

Two things that should have made the list:
Gasoline direct injection and variable valve timing.

.

I will never, ever, ever buy another all-wheel-drive vehicle. All tires must be same diameter. Have a blowout and buy four new tires or go through a hassle.

My daily drivers are all-wheel-drive cars...

Both are equipped with high performance all season tires...

For me...all-wheel-drive cars offer superior tractability in the heavy rain... and yes...I replace the tires more often... but it's no big deal considering the added safety factor of all-wheel-drive...

I have several all wheel drives. Have been able to replace two tires at a time, just need to reset. Run flats are a different story, would never buy a BMW again out of principle.
