While they're sometimes identical, they aren't always.What happens is that these companies contract out the manufacture of their appliances to a 3rd party factory, usually in China or thereabouts and then the factory over-produces it and sells it with a smaller brand's badge. So that Chinese brand that is 50% of the price of a Kenmore is a Kenmore.
Sometimes those same factories will produce multiple versions of the same product for different companies, often with different tolerances and QC.
