What happens is that these companies contract out the manufacture of their appliances to a 3rd party factory, usually in China or thereabouts and then the factory over-produces it and sells it with a smaller brand's badge. So that Chinese brand that is 50% of the price of a Kenmore is a Kenmore.
While they're sometimes identical, they aren't always.
Sometimes those same factories will produce multiple versions of the same product for different companies, often with different tolerances and QC.
For instance, check out this bench mill - made by Seig in China from:
Harbor Freight
Grizzly
MicroMark
etc.
Exact same machine, same manufacturer, but also slightly different build quality and different prices.

96 was when they started using the chevy motors instead of the Isuzu. As well as the differentials. The steering wheel and a couple of electronics still said Isuzu, but most of the rest was S10.

The Chevy LUV pickup was an Isuzu.

we had a Chevy LUV Truck and kept it for several years .... looking back, it had the most uncomfortable ride of any vehicle I've ever owned .... I don't remember it ever giving us any trouble .... over the years we've had several cars/trucks that in retrospect I hate parting with but the LUV isn't among them
