Maybe because it is only a 55 cu in naturally aspirated engine?
Lets look at 55 cu in, 55 hp, 55 ft lb torque, naturally aspirated!
And it's not direct injected!
Lots of room to grow!

Because, It is designed to make "optimal" hp & torque at relatively low RPM's.......How does Elio Motor only get 55hp at a 12.5/1 ratio?
They can do better than 55hp...But, not at 84(target) MPG's.Yea, the suzuki g10 engine had the same power. It was designed almost 30 yrs ago. I think they could do better than 55HP though.
Right when they did the first engine dyno test; it was more of a side note mention in the newsletter discussing the engine development.I missed that.

I was concerned about adding additional complications to the engine and am glad they deleted the 2 stage cam.
