I hope it was in this thread, but if not, this does fit in here:
Earlier, there was a member that said "the automatic was supposed to be standard equipment; that's what it said in the agreement said when I put my $1K All In deposit in"
I wrote EM and asked them if that was true in the "beginning".
I finally got an answer and here it is:

We have a member that brought up an argument that I cannot find an answer for, you should be able to. When he put his deposit in back in early 2013 he is under the impression that an automatic transmission was going to be standard equipment in the Elio; and he swears that was in the TOS when he did his All In deposit in early 2013 (his SIL is 2666) and is highly upset about this. I know this is incorrect, but can you show me the agreement he would have signed up for at that time? There is nothing we have come up with that will convince him otherwise, something from there during that time period would help us to prove to him about this; and prove to others that everything is subject to change. You are correct: the targeted base price has also been for the manual transmission. Also, the reservation agreement does not mention a transmission in the base price.

So there is the official word on the transmission from the beginning. Manual was Standard, automatic was never mentioned let alone be stated in the agreement.
They must be swamped to take almost 3 weeks to answer me; normally it's 2 days, max.
