Wow. If those prices hold true, then my Elio just got quite a bit more expensive :p I'm not sure if I want to spend a full $750 for heat + leather though. I think for that price I'll go ahead and take the cloth seats and add my own heat.

I am strongly considering the sunroof option though, which is funny because I hadn't considered it before. It will depend on exactly what form that sunroof takes--I'd take a glass non-opening roof over a tiny opening panel.

Ok, we've had our fun with this; but let's move on before it gets carried away.
No telling where it could go on this path; but if it stays on it; it won't be good; and you know the rest from there...
Ah, yes. This can only end in tears. Tears and lots and lots of bullet casings.

What I can't figure out is, why charge $380.00 for retro fenders? Hasn't Paul said in the past that less stuff cost less money? Using Paul's own logic, if anything, they should give a credit for the retro fenders UNLESS you get the standard fenders as well.

An entry argument in the pricing equation is volume. If the default Elio configuration has the better-for-aero fenders, that is where the deep discount would be and result in higher price/fender for the retro and likely higher still for the Indian.

EM is trying to balance the demand for an inexpensive base vehicle and people's desire for "cool" options. So things like the retro fenders are going to cost more, to help cover the cost of the base vehicle.

Or put another way, the options will have to pay for themselves--the more people want retro fenders, the wider the production cost gets spread out and the lower the price of that option becomes. I imagine the "option cycle" will go something like this:

EM offers expensive option --> People who can afford it choose that option --> Enough people choose that option that it becomes more economical to produce --> The price of the option goes down --> More people can afford the option --> More people take that option, further driving down the cost --> Option becomes Standard (cheaper to put it on everything, then to selectively install).
