Why is that amazing.................$35K price only?It is amazing there are that many people willing to reserve the new Tesla, especially at that price point.
The vast majority of the reservations are made on-line much like our Elio's.Think about it this way, Tesla has 93 sales centers, or 41 resv. per hour per center.
It's remarkable how linear that trend has been over the last 1.5 years.Latest monthly graph. About 34/day for the past month. Not so bad for Elio, but kind of tiny compared to Tesla. Tesla is at around 3800 reservations per hour right now.

The Tesla Store direct to consumer showroom options are primarily based on customer upgrades related to AWD, Larger Battery Paks, and a High Performance option, that are not so much bundled or packaged like your typical car dealers. There is a trailer hitch option that I'll add so I can occasionally tow a small trailer, but don't have to buy anything I don't want. The base $35K Model 3 is well equipped and five star safety rated (all categories) that will meet the needs of many customers. My guess is Musk's estimate of the average $41K purchase is bumped up as a result of the AWD option at least for those living in temperate climates and or optional battery pak upgrades to increase range.Elon Musk has already said the average price Out the Door will be around $42,000
I guess that's the $7K all the goodies package that actually has 3 things you want, but you have to take the 27 others you don't want.
I agree. There are many different types of similar cars, it depends on what you value. The Chevy Volt is similar and has about $35k base and from early reviews the Tesla 3 is roomier in the back seat. The base or close to base BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Acura TSX, etc... are all around that price point and I imagine are reasonably similar in features. From my point of view, $35K is perfectly reasonable. Why is that amazing.................$35K price only?
The Base Model 3 specifications are amazing for a $35K vehicle in any class......EV, Gas, or Hydrogen powered, providing it meets one's personal daily driving needs.
