Of course, if they keep the price point down, this would be the perfect starter car for financially strapped parents of new drivers as well as the commuter market. Nothing like keeping the interior small enough to discourage teen pack mentality. There's no sparking in this vehicle either!

No, the teens will just travel around in packs of Elios :p

What you can do in an Elio is another topic that has been a multi-page topic also that went on for far too long..
This is where the search function can help anyone

PE has said that the factory in full running mode it was a lot more than 90 a day. (I think it was hinted at 500 to 1,000 per day, but don't hold me to those 2 numbers; someone else probably has the figures).
His ideal target is 250,000 a year.
Check with Ty, he used to work there. An active production line
almost defies description.....

The line can complete one vehicle every 52 seconds. At one minute per vehicle the line can put out 480 vehicles per 8-hour day. A second shift can do the same so close to 1000 vehicles per day. The problem I see is machining/producing 1000 engines per day.
Then I obviously misread the chart.

I assume that 'Just in Time' inventory system will be used though I prefer seeing at least a thirty day supply of parts in stock to reduce shut down risk until the supplier kinks are worked out.

Will the engine be built elsewhere?

ps- The problem with any search engine is that you have to know enough to know what to look for.

pss You really need to be specific on production rates to get apples to apples comparisons.
Factory production rates and individual production line rates will vary substantially as soon as additional assembly lines are added..

the folks running EM have been working toward bringing their trike to market for years .... its impossible for me to believe that they haven't considered and made detailed plans to do so .... where we sit and wonder, the pretty much sit there and know .... without access to the info on which they are basing their decisions, I really can't get all worked up over things like this

If final assembly begins in December, then we should be able to back up the critical path timeline to determine when the longest timeline for producing the parts would have to begin. I suspect it would be the engine, but all would have some minimum time required to assemble their particular part for the final assembly. I'm sure that exists and it would be nice to sneak a peek at it.

We should make a guess, place bets (for brownie points), what count will it reach by the time EM gets the first crash-test in or the 25th E-series is out the door? I'm going to commit that 68k is reached at some point. The are 4 key milestones that may be required, the MPG is documented, E series all built, First Crash test (if successful), the ATVM loan approved. After all that, as a run up to production, they go up by a faster rate.

30 day supply? At 1,000 units/Day that would mean 30,000 engines alone!!!! Inventory costs and the vast amount of space required must be unfeasable.
