My wife and I do a just-for-fun NFL pick'em each week. I noticed that several games had a strange spread on the game: Chicago -1 at TB, Car -3 vs. KC, New Orleans -3 vs. Denver, Jacksonville -2 vs. Hou, Pitt -2.5 vs. Dal; in my opinion the number should have been smaller or the other team made the favorite. All of those underdogs won.

I had good luck on my picks too Coss, I got 9 correct. I've got the Giants tonight.

Good luck; baby Manning has a real problem with winning at home; really good road team but brain dead with they get in the home stadium.

The FoxSports pickem is a just for fun, free online game.
You can find it here http://www.foxsports.com/fantasy/football/pickem/help/

You enter and play for free, but they do have cash prizes if you do an outstanding job of picking.
It's best to start at the beginning of the season, but you can join at anytime and compete for the weekly prizes.
In the 5 years I've been playing it, I've won $5 on a weekly (once)

Will your stupid Falcons stop F'N around?! Although the Panthers look dead (in terms of record), they still have a shot because of the Falcons not being able to win. This happens every year it seems. Look really good for a while, then take a big shit. Now, I don't think either of the teams in the NFC South to make the SB, but just keep the damn Panthers out of the playoffs.

I love how Cam brought the dab back, then gave away a stupid pick 6....hahaha
Hold on there...we lost two games by a total of 5 points (and two horrible calls), won one, then lost to the Eagles... hardly a losing streak. But, you are right. I would hope with the schedule we have left (ARI, KC, LA, SF, CAR, NO), we can win at least 4 more... 6 would be better, of course and is completely possible.

Try to keep in mind, in the NFC, only the Cowboys have more wins!

Yes, but the Seahawks and Giants have a better record. (Doesn't really matter)

I don't care whether they lost by 1 point or 100 points. Still ends up as a loss.

I really don't give a shit what happens, just don't let the Panthers back in. They have a big against the Saints tmw. I think they were both embarrassed on Sunday so they both will have fire. It will be an entertaining game.

Let's say the Falcons lose to the Cards and the Panthers beat the Saints. Both could happen, neither could happen. It's a weird season. If it goes the wrong way, the Falcons and Panthers will be 6-5 and 4-6. Only 1.5 games out. The Falcons and Panthers plays play again. Assuming the Panthers win that, only half a game. The Falcons play the Chiefs in a few weeks also. They play the Saints and you know how division games are.

I'm not saying this is going to happen. Everything has to go for Panthers and nothing for the Falcons. I would say the Buccaneers have a shot too. There are just too many things that can happen. This week is huge for both teams. I'm not a big Falcons fan, but as long as they are in the same division as the Panthers, I'll be rooting for them. Hell, who knows, maybe the Saints make a run! haha

Yup, I follow. I'm not a showboating Cam fan either. I just don't like that guy. The Falcons just need to win out and pick up the #1 or 2 seed... can't have them losing in the wild card round that way.

Current Standings:

AFC Standings.gif

NFC Standings.gif

Sorry if it's a little blurry, that's what happens when you run into compression on upload.

Looking at NFC Standings, Dallas is looking like the league leader, but I think that's deceiving because they had a pretty easy schedule.
AFC is anyone's guess; 3 teams with 7 - 2 records; Bronco's at 7 - 3 (so they have yet to had their Bye weekend; this could be a very good thing for them).

Well DAMN!

It was frustrating watching the 4th qtr of that game. I don't think Sean Payton and the other coaches on the Saints are that smart. They kept trying to run the ball when they were down a few scores. Then on the Panther's last offensive series, they didn't bring pressure on 3rd down and play a shitty zone offense.

Another thing that drives me absolutely nuts is when a player gets tackled at the end of the game. If I were a coach, I'd tell them to keep making lateral passes until it goes out of bounds or they turn it over. The last play for the Saints, the receiver just kind of ran into the Panthers and got tackled. He had no way of getting through them and didn't try to get it to anybody else. Grrrrr. The Saints definitely could have won that.

The Panthers don't know how to win. After they get a big lead, they just stop playing. Cam will get credit for the game (like always), but he couldn't complete much. 14 for 33.....I don't think that is a good ratio. They still won. Hopefully Kuechly is ok.

That's why the Panthers are all really upset today; Kuechly
He had a pretty sever head injury prior to last night, and they think he might be done with football after this one.
Same thing that's going on with Dale Jr.; brain has been rattled far too many times and if it happens too many more times (like even once) they can turn into complete DUH! Fighters have it happen far more often (think Ali) and it's a sad thing to see.

Yep. I know with Boxing, it is more dangerous than MMA, because as long as those guys still get up, they keep fighting. In the MMA, once the person is out of it the fight is (usually) called.

I thought Kuechly had a leg injury at first. Then when they carted him off, I was thinking that if he was crying over a leg injury, something was broken bad. These guys hit each other for a living so when they are in tears over something, it is bad. Then they mentioned concussion and replayed him getting carted off and he looked really out of it. Just that dazed concussion look. Feel bad for him. Ingram also got knocked out too. That one was obvious, his body just dropped too. It's sad what those concussions do to you. Some of them older players are complete vegetables and it hits them out of nowhere.

Yea, I'm a Nascar fan and it's good to see Dale taking his time. I think the replacements were doing better than he was anyway. I wonder if a mix of concussions and money is a reason why he was a whole lot better when he first got into the Winston Cup?

It's also strange to think about how many concussions there are with all this high tech gear. Just think how many sports concussions there were several decades ago. Don't worry, the NFL will fight those though. Hell, there were some hockey players not wearing helmets until the mid 90s!!!!

Get rid of the pads and helmets and I'll bet concussions and injuries go way down. There's something about knowing your head is in a helmet that gives you a certain feeling of invincibility. You can bet that with no helmet, the players would ALL be more careful about where they put their heads. Probably not though.

Still, Kuechly looked like the most sad person in the NFL... ever. It was tough... so passionate about the game and so distraught that he was letting his team down. It's enough to bring a tear to your eye.
