My New Ride...

With winter coming, and me driving an 18 year old, borrowed beater, I finally had to take the plunge and buy a new car. I drove home a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV today.



I haven't jumped ship. I still want an Elio, but I needed a car now, not two years from now.

Looks good! Our 2017 Chevy Sonic hatchback looks similar to it. It's the same color. And if my wife had put down the money on the Elio instead of me it would be me driving the new car.

The Triumph is The new ride. The Honda took me across America this spring on Rt 20. Trip of a lifetime. Glad I was able to do it now as places close along Americas Highway as traffic moved to the new roads. An Elio would have made easy work of the rain and hail I encountered.

Nice Triumph! I'm envious.....

I had a Hurricane. Wished I still had it. It was my favorite. The tank didn't hold much gas, but I enjoyed every mile

Nice looking ride............I too had to buy a new (to me) vehicle. Bought a 2014 Volt since a Bolt would not help me much on my long trips. I find I probably drive EV 98% of the time. I've gone 1648 miles on 4 gallons of gas I do not miss gas stations
Still want my Elio though.

I have a Triumph too. Didn't buy it to ride. Bought it to keep my wife out of my toy money. Mine is a 900cc triple 2001 Adventurer. It only has 600 miles on it. Really. 600 miles! I bought it out of a carport storage about 4 years ago, so it's not perfect cosmetically, but still nearly a new bike mechanically. I was going to sell it when the Elio came out, but we're still waiting. I may put it up for sale soon just to get it out of the way. This picture isn't mine, but looks just like it......only with about a 1/2'' of dust on it.

Got a question for you. On the Volt, does it always run on the EV mode until the battery gets de-pleated to a low point, then the engine kicks in or does it switch to engine mode at a high rate of speed (say freeway speed 70+) even if the battery is at a high charge? I know the engine will charge the battery back up, (regen) but I wonder how long that would take.
Simply put, does it have a speed limiter on the EV mode as the Prius does
