Just watched the evening news and there was a feature about the world wide shortage of computer chips holding up the production of new cars. Maybe now is a good time to get back to the simple basics. Shouldn't be too hard to build a good car without chips, we did it for a lot of years in the past.

Yeah, but the cars were very different, a lot simpler so to speak.
Cars today are very different then what they used to be. Heater? Climate Control. Music? Surround Sound, with effects. And the list goes on and on.
They are a lot more complicated now, do they have to be? Yes and no, we grown to expect more out of our daily transportation. Does it have to be that way?
Not really, but we have gotten to a point that we expect more. The answer? I have no clue as to what the answer is, but it doesn't have to be, it just is.

My new electric car has everything, a center computer screen (like a Tesla) where you can turn everything on or off, and adjust.

Everything, except for the stability control, is off, and it makes no difference that i can discern to driving the car at all.

In fact a number of items are overthought when they should be simple, such as the air con doesn't work over 24C/75F outside to help save your battery range. But the inexperienced young engineer morons don't seem to understand that when it's hot, and it suddenly rains with the humidity going through the roof, the windscreen fogs up and you can't demist it with normal air!

This is the result of their stupidity on a hot raining humid day moment ... the car is literally undrivable, madly wiping away with tissues trying to drive ...

There's other idiot thinking in the car as well, when they should have just made a car like everyone else has been for the last 50 years.

I live in a hot and humid climate where 90 plus heat and humidity are the norm in the summer. I don't know what you have but I just gotta git me one of them there oven on wheels.
