Well, I wouldn't want to mislead you, of course but I just did a search and Ford charges about $1,000 for their automatic. Now, since the Elio doesn't have to handle the same amount of torque and power range, it should be a lot simpler to manufacture which would make it cheaper to buy. Thinking about it though, the automatic will almost surely be an added cost. Let's just hope it isn't too much or that it affects mileage/towing much either.

[Edit] I see that the Chevy Sonic is actually CHEAPER as an automatic... There's hope yet.

Until Elio and IAV have any transmission in their possession I will withhold any comments.. Everything at this point is hearsay with nothing to back it up..
