Jim H...it is ok, put your head back into the sand..it's ok, really. Oh, sorry, if your head is in the sand, you can't hear the flute music playing can you...Remember the old salesman shout: "Prepare to be taken!"

I believe a few details need to be pointed out as some people are drawing conclusions about the timeline and number of reservations without the correct facts. While Paul Elio has been working on this idea since 2008 Elio Motors did not accept reservations until the very beginning of 2013 so all the reservations in place now have not happened over the last six years but instead only about a year and a half now. Also the nice automated online reservation system most of us used for our reservations only dates back eight months or so to October 2013 when the nice shiny website came online followed by the Elio blog and accompanied by a more active presence on the Facebook page. Due to these facts until the fall of 2013 it was much more difficult to learn about and stay in touch with what Elio Motors was doing and interested persons had to either see the Elio prototype and make a reservation in person or reach out to Elio Motors via phone or email to make a reservation which people are much less likely to do.

All this basically means that Elio Motors has only stepped up and been really serious about marketing this vehicle to the public since late last year yet in that time they have already managed to go from about 1500 reservations in early October 2013 to over 18,000 just eight months later in early June 2014.

Well, I just explained how to be careful if you finance your elio, it is very easy to have the elio salesman, although he is working from a fixed price sheet, to add $10-$20 to your payment, so do your home work. If you finance for 48 months, 48 x $20 is $960 pure profit for EM plus a bank kickback.

Who says I would be financing though Elio? I have bought cars before. And yes in the same manner. My Saturn was sold just like the Elio plan. No haggle pricing. best car buying experience I have ever had.

........ EM, look at some of the other concepts, change the front, enclose the wheels, widen the rear a bit, add a bench seat and Paul elios dream of one in every home even with kids under 16 (quote) might be attainable. Like it is now.. a lot of us don't think so.
When the 2016 elio comes off the assembly line..ya all can buy me a beer when you are in OKC. A lot of my suggestions will be standard.. now go to ale' tulie.com, SEV, and zap alias and 3 wheel concept cars.com to see really good concepts.
Hey jeff, if you finance your elio, keep me in the mix, I will save you $500-$2000 in real money. I know all the tricks.

,

I have asked several times in several threads. Why don't you go buy one of these instead of trying to recreate the Elio to match it?

Neal, because for the last year some of us have made suggestions for the engineers. Like a hatch back for the trunk area, like a better front to keep ice and snow out of there and even larger rear windows A little more room in the rear seat. And you know what, we got them, not all the suggestions like yellow, a right passengers door, and others. So I suggest things like hundreds of people before and after me will.
Oh, several of my friends sold saturns, they made good money, because there was no negotiations and you could rip a lot of people off. People felt so good when the bought their Saturn, it was a wonderful experience for them ...and the sales managers and salesmen loved every minute of it, cause they were "makin money".

I get that, but you have made it very clear (over and over and over and over) you want the Elio to be just like the Tuvie. Just curious why you don't just get that one.

goofyone: I just checked my elioclub.org and on june 22, 2013 elio began taking refundable reservations, and I saw that "dude I want that car.com" said they were taking reservations , that was on may 13th...2013...so maybe we are not on the same page huh! Any ideas, I am confused!

This does match up with the information I have also. I wrote above that EM began taking reservations in early 2013, I can't find the exact date but it may have been January 1. They just did not automate the process and make it easy to do online until later in the year when the flashy new website design came online.
