I agree with the ideas presented so far ................
But remember, those are just 3 ideas so far, we need to expand on those 3 ideas and either keep going on those or ..........
See that's the idea, and I'm sure there are many more we haven't touched on that could use equal time or ideas that we could bring up.
Like JEBar started to allude to like "Where is the Boss?" aka the site originator, there are so many possibilities. That would be first on my mind.

As to "owning/driving the BEX Mongrel." I doubt if I ever would have bought one. I suspect that the Chinese would have built it as cheaply as they do everything else they sell to Americans.
I wasn't all that worried -- the engine and transmission were Honda (which I have owned two 1.5L cars) and both went 250K+ miles. The front end appeared to have a lot of GM parts, which I have had good luck with on other vehicles. I assume since the engine was Honda, the ECM (main computer) would have been Honda, as well. So (I figured) the major components were solid, any other little problem -- I was prepared to fix it myself.

I was also hoping that the forum owner would have allowed a thread for DIY Tips and Tricks for fixing the BEX Mongrel. The Mongrel was going to be our "Bucket List" car, but now I'll put some money (and work) into my "econo-box" car.

As for China, a lot of my tools are Harbor Freight (China); other than the jack stands (that were recalled) and an angle grinder that I pushed too hard -- everything else has met or exceeded my expectations. I do a lot of DIY projects. I have a few tools left on my "Wish List" and when they go on sale or I have a coupon -- I'll go to Harbor Freight and get that Chinese tool.

I sent him a personal email at that address a week ago. The email was delivered but it has gone unanswered.
This is the one thing that upsets me the most. The owners of this forum extended a place for Mark to discuss and "pitch" the BEX Mongrel. The thread ran for four years. At the very least, Mark owes a return email to @JEBar

Even if he didn't want to discuss all of the details, it would not have been hard to take 30 seconds and write. "I appreciated everything the forum and staff have done for me, but sadly the dream of a 3-Wheel BEX Mongrel is dead" He didn't have to offer an explanation or reason, but should have returned the email correspondence.

When I worked, I returned EVERY email, phone call, etc. within 24 hours. Even if I didn't have an answer or had bad news; I still got back to the person. I carried that over into my personal life -- if anyone calls, emails, contacts me, even if I know its going to be distasteful, I still return the communication.

Maybe he's sick? Passed away? Run afoul of the local authorities?

I'll confess I never expected to see a Mongrel in the USA, but that doesn't mean it was all a scam. Had that been the case, he'd have been taking deposits and selling t-shirts. Oh, wait.

OK... if he is in a coma, he gets a pass. Same with passed away.
Run afoul of the local authorities?
I would think if the Chinese authorities were that concerned they would have shut down his email access entirely. @JEBar mentioned he confirmed that Mark did receive his email, but didn't respond.
but that doesn't mean it was all a scam
I never said it was a scam, I said Mark should have had the decency to return @JEBar email correspondence.

I did... there were other Chinese 3 wheel cars in the US (Wildfire Motors/Snyder Technology, Inc.) There are also (currently) Chinese Motorcycles being sold in the US --CF Moto for one is sold and serviced in all 50 states.

just be sure I said the correct thing, the email was not returned due to having something wrong with the address so I believe it was delivered to his computer ..... he may have other addresses that he checks and uses

He did what he wanted to do or found out what he was looking for, so why bother to answer emails from people who mean nothing to him?

I hate to say it, but I agree with "he passed on ........"
It's a sad idea but we all have a due date on our bodies, JEBar is there anyone he lives with that could answer our questions?
Or you even mentioned that one person that he brought onboard knows the board and how it works back when we were in that little scramble.
Could he have any insights as to the boss's condition?
I don't have any insights, but it seems he knew this day was coming.
I'm just grasping for straws here.
Hey, it's late, and for some reason my wife loves to get up early, she is nice enough to let me sleep till 8:00 am.
So, I'm outta here be back in the morning. Tah!!

I would give 3 to 1 he's still kicking. Problem is, how do we find out?
