Impatiently Awaiting My Foul Weather Friend!

Hi all,

41 year old male, father of 1, spouse of 1 seeks fun loving commuter for infrequent outings... LOL

I currently mostly work from home and only commute into the office twice per week, 26 miles each way. On most commutes I ride my motorcycle unless it is too cold (only a couple weeks out of the year here in TX) or raining. I am too old and have been riding for far too long to enjoy riding cold or wet, lol. But it is becoming more and more of a hassle to borrow my wife's car on those days, so looking for a fun but cheap commuter to put 1-2 thousand miles on per year. I prefer small vehicles and was initially looking at Smarts and Fiats but then came across the Elio online and fell in LOVE.

The Elio looks perfect! The exact style of commuter I have been looking for! I really could not care less about gas mileage since I put so few miles on per year, I would love to have a performance option with a turbo. My favorite previous commuter was my 2008 MINI Cooper S, but it was constantly in the shop for repairs so she got sold just before the warranty was up.

I plan on putting down some money all-in shortly. I really hope the Elio gets made, it would fill my commuting need perfectly. A manual in red, pretty please?

Welcome! The Elio attracts all sorts of people for all sorts of reasons Up here in Washington state, the good motorcycle weather only lasts about 3 months in the summertime.

Being new to this side of the country, and although I don';t ride anymore, I see many folks on two wheels riding this winter (in Seattle), there is a "war" between bicycles and cars over lanes/space, there are many scooters about, and some motorcycles,
In the city of Prius and Tesla, - they also love their Subarus- the Elio will be an instant big time hit with the green lovers, bikers and scooterists!
