There are two different things going on here and they could very well have two different answers and cost estimates. One question is how will reservation holders delivery be handled and how much will this cost? The other question is how will shipping to retail customers be handled and how much will that cost?

From what I understand all retail customers, regardless of whether they order online or in a store, will be pay the same equalized delivery charge which will include delivery of their vehicle to the nearest retail store location or factory pickup in Shreveport. As an extra cost option delivery will be available to your home or a suitable nearby place where a truck can safely unload and deliver you vehicle. The exact delivery charge and home delivery option cost are yet to be determined however an estimate of $400 for the equalized delivery charge has been mentioned which gives us a good indication that EM is trying to keep this charge low however this may or may not prove to be the final amount.

The questions we still do not have a clear answer to is how will reservation holders receive their vehicles and how much cost will be involved. Without the network of distribution centers and retails stores all vehicles will have to be completed in Shreveport and then shipped out to reservation holders from there or picked up in Shreveport. We have heard various things from EM personnel at various times about reservation holders delivery/pickup and the last I heard from Jerome in Charlotte was that no decision had yet been made regarding whether all reservation holders will pay a delivery charge and what exactly that charge will include.

What he did say was that it is likely the delivery charge for reservation holders will include delivery to a pre-determined set of locations throughout the country with home delivery being an extra cost option. He also said EM had made contact with the local casino/hotels in Shreveport and initial feedback had been very positive. So the factory pickup travel package does look like it could materialize which would ease the pain somewhat of having to pay a delivery charge if EM does indeed opt to charge everyone.

Ok, this may not be helpful but.... I buy cars on Ebay and have them shipped, the real question is TIME not distance. Lets say I need the car in a week, its twice the price if I say I want the car in the next 30-40 days (about $500 from Fla. to PA.), when they have an empty spot on a truck already heading my way it's a LOT cheaper. The only problem is the timing (and making sure I'm home for delivery). So if you are willing to wait for the shippers convenience it can save a bundle. But I am sure no one wants to wait a month more for their Elio to arrive.

I'm sure Elios' will be shipped on dedicated transport.
