I think you might find this interesting. Here is a depiction of the two major type of tadpole drive trains. But I have a third you probably haven't seen before shown as well.

Not included bellow:
the Morgan type having front engine and rear drive,
no prop powered and
no all wheel drive.

I see no logic in the rear engine front drive configuration. What would be the advantage? Don't think I'd care for a drive chain or belt passing under my right elbow either. I guess a lot of things are possible. But being possible doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea.

That only works for a very light small displacement engine. But given that the overall weight of this layout is extremely low and the compactness unmatched. It fits inside a nearly perfect raindrop shape.
