Wow, something big happened to the Gaelhawks!
In the 1st round of the semifinals their alliance got zero points! I've never seen this. Sounds like the whole team got disqualified or something.
Can't wait to hear this story!

The best news first...

Even if we hadn't won the Chairman's award (automatic ticket to champs) we got 100 points more than needed to qualify. We're going to St. Louis and I finally get to meet CompTrex in person.

Karma is a bitch. The team we caught cheating in qualification matches was our quarterfinals opponent. We dismantled them and set a world high score (257 points) in the process. I guess they knew they couldn't beat us honestly.

The semi-finals disqualification came when our alliance captain defended an opponent just a bid too well and knocked them over. The red card forfeited that match. We actually won the next match but a score keeping error resulted in a replay which we lost.

The machine is beat up but will be repaired in the pits at champs.

Is it open to the public ? Might just make the drive down to watch and meet up with fellow Elio enthusiasts. About a seven hour drive but a stop in Indianapolis at St. Elmo's for a steak and shrimp cocktail might make the trip worth it. ( One of the best damn steakhouses in the country)

It sure is. It's mayhem! Lots going on. Six fields of competition, thousands of kids and mentors. The pit area is a crazy bee hive (bring safety glasses to visit).
I'm team 1731 - Fresta Valley Christian School. Best place to find me is probably in the pits at some point.
Stop on by and introduce yourself! The Elio is probably going to be the furthest thing from my mind while all this is going on, but I'd love to meet you and tell you a little bit about our robot.
