Firing Order

This is just curiousity. Anyone have an idea what the firing order on the 3-banger will be? With only three cylinders it's gotta be 1-2-3 or 1-3-2 (which is effectively 3-2-1). Unless I'm completely missing something.

The Honda Insight order is 1-3-2. (Pretty sure.)

It's notable that the Insight 3-banger lacks a balance shaft, but pulses the concentric electric motor to act like a balance shaft at low RPM. It still shakes like crazy at idle. I don't think the Elio engine has a balance shaft so I wonder what they will do about the 3-cylinder rocking.

You are correct GPA. Except they are smooth, IF the rear rubber motor mount isn't broken . (Weak point)
They use impulses from the IMA system to balance at idle.

Pretty sure it couldn't be anything but 1 - 3 - 2, I think there is a bunch of physics laws and centrifugal force thingymabobs that dictate that.

With a three cylinder there really isn't any difference between 1-2-3 or 1-3-2. It's firing either front to back or back to front whichever way it goes.

Henry Ford only built 4 cylinder and 8 cylinder cars as he didn't believe you could equally divide 360 degrees by 6. Ford never built a 6 cylinder engine until after Henry was gone.
