My thought on an electric powerplant is that if you're willing to spend $15k on an e-Lio, why not buy twice the car for $35k? Neither one is a particularly good value proposition in terms of overall operating costs, so style and status are overriding motivators anyway.
I suspect the answer to that question is not having the additional $20K. I like style and performance. Status is a non-issue for me.

agree that driving one for a while is the best way to understand .... owned one, been there, done that .... do EV's have advantages, they most certainly do .... do EV's have shortcomings, they most certainly do .... can they fill a the needs of a niche market, they certainly can .... will they ever replace gasoline powered type vehicles, ever is a long time but it won't be in my lifetime .... until they come up with major improvements in battery and recharging technology, I never want another one
I don't think it's the intention to replace the ICE's, but rather to serve as an alternative energy vehicle option that may help guarantee our future energy resources and may have some positive environmental impact. I admire the fact that you owned an EV early on in the development stages. EV's fill the needs of some drivers certainly not all.
The range is increasing while the cost is decreasing and can only improve over time.

EV's could be considered an & vehicle just like the Elio's & vehicle classification. I'm looking for that EV experience in a fun little single seater or two seater city autocycle commuter, preferably a tilter. I will settle for the Elio if it makes production and or both options along with a luxury ICE for cross country adventures. I will choose a vehicle from the lineup in my garage that best meets the needs of my driving experience.

Yeah, true. I wasn't saying an EV option wouldn't sell or even be popular in the daily-drivable fun toy/sport vehicle market segment. It's just that, in my opinion, the existence of an "& vehicle" market is heavily reliant upon having an extremely low total cost to own. Essentially, the selling point is that it's cheaper to buy an Elio than to buy fuel for your current car. If that is no longer true, there's no reason to buy one for those that already have a larger, more capable vehicle. The higher initial purchase price also hurts in other market segments like clunker replacement, first cars and fleets.

They don't necessarily have anything to do with the SEC offering statement. If he only has verbal agreement with the sources, then there's nothing to show, as they essentially mean nothing. Remember that the SEC approval for the stock sale has nothing at all to do with the risk of the investment, nor any kind of official endorsement of the offering as a good investment. SEC approval is concerned with compliance with the law. That means certified full disclosure of the financials in a standard format. It's up to you as a potential investor to do your due diligence and decide if the risk involved is something you are willing to accept in order to get your expected return.
See, that's my concern - "If he only has verbal agreement with the sources, then there's nothing to show, as they essentially mean nothing.". Yet those appear to be 'Plan B' if the ATVM loan doesn't come through. I guess the fact he mentioned them (as he has in the past) then brushed them off with "There isn't time to go into them here" was what set me on edge. There's lots of time and opportunities to 'go into them'. As a potential investor, how valid they are, what the terms are, all that makes a difference.

I concur, as I said in an earlier post. Even if sincere and accurate (hem, hem!), the tone is wrong. Paul is in a bit of a cleft stick. He wants to reassure investors that even if DOE does not come through, the company can make it. But he doesn't want to violate confidentiality, or to make a guarantee he maybe can't keep -- so he's stuck between saying nothing, or saying too much. This was the compromise. He really should have anticipated the question (it's been asked enough times) and HAVE A PREPARED ANSWER that works better. This event was less a fireside chat than a friendly, televised press conference -- and preparation is one of the keys to any press conference (I'm speaking from many years experience here). Paul really needs coaching in this whole arena of public appearances, TV, (even web tv), and press conferences. He's not inept, but he does need polish. He'll always be the sincere, driven, intense, committed, visionary engineering entrepreneur that is his nature. He can do that AND increase his effectiveness as a public person.

I loved the whole interview. That fellow from Start engine could sell ice cubes to Eskimos. We learned crowdfundX produced the video with the elio getting out from under the bed sheet in the closed mill building. (Sex SELLS - over 8060 views) Now we understand what all those youtube stars were doing at that California meeting that some of us attended. I would love to see some of their clips. Start Engine has a PR company working on this project, It is called '47'. Elio has a company called Birline Communications. I never heard about that before.
Elio actual got FCC or SEC (I couldn't hear it) permission to put up our precious counter.
AAron, who asked the question, is he from OHIO? Boy, between EKH, me and AAron OHIO is number one, lol.
I wonder if TATA motors is related to the TATA steel mill in Warren OHIO. Too bad about that ugly little car. Paul was dressed just fine but his mother and I agree; he did need a hair cut. WOW this campaign was put together, bed sheets and all in three weeks ! Less parts means less chances to screw up is a nice way to understand Keep it Simply Stupid KISS. And I right?
Is OCTQX going to be Elio's stock exchange name? (About 42;49 on the interview film). I learned a lot by watching this three times, lol. Well worth the time. I'm proud of you EKH.

It's Berline, run by James Berline, a Michigan-based ad and PR firm. Good outfit.

none of us know all of the agreements Paul/EM have with who knows how many individuals, companies, or government entities .... history has clearly demonstrated that every word released will be scrutinized by folks whose mission in life seems to be to harass EM .... sadly, it pretty much boils down to how much faith a person has in Paul/EM .... personally, I have no clue based on hard facts as to if we will ever have an Elio in our driveway .... I do have a belief that they are doing all they can to get into production .... for that reason I see no sense in worrying about it .... when it comes to Crowd Funding I plan to look at the terms/conditions and make a decision if to invest or not .... if so, how much .... that decision will be based on the facts at hand when considered under the light of a belief that, if its humanly possible, they will make it happen

The fellow from Start Engine that you said "could sell ice cubes to Eskimos" is on the opposite end of the Paul Elio common guy persona. There needs to be a personality somewhere in the middle ground that I could actually feel comfortable with.
