Ok, I am back from sema, and asked Jerome a few questions. I asked him how long would it be until the engine was tested, in the car, and have official mpg ratings to publish. He said around June. I asked him would that be in the p5 and he said there probably wont be a p5 and they will go straight to production. I asked him why they cant offer as many colors as possible, and what would the cost be to the company. He said they only have 7 bays and cant use more than that BUT he said they will probably swap out colors for a new color like yellow, or even purple, which is what I told him I wanted. My guess was they will have a promotion for a new color for a certain amount of time and then try another one, but they must get rid of one to add a different one. .... The best part was getting in the elio. It was pretty roomy for one person, but I wouldnt want to be in shotgun for a extended trip. btw, the big news wasnt that exciting. something about having sensors around the whole car and tracking your car. The guy said the complete option would be about 1500 but they might have just back up sensors as a cheaper option.

That seems like a long time, especially when they said they aren't making a p5. The engine should go in the car as soon as it is complete and tested, which was supposed to be in a few weeks, though a delay is likely now.

A little off topic evboy, but how did you sneak in to the show? Did you get caught?
I was caught the first time, but tried a different security guard the second time. The trick is to wait for someone to ask a security guard a question, and when he is explaining things, you walk past him with a bunch of car magazines they were handing out outside. this isnt my first rodeo, but you just cant give up on the first try. sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times.

If testing isn't until summer of '15 you can bet there will be problems to fix and that will cause another delay.
No problems, then move forward.

They did not say no testing would happen until summer of 2015. Evboy asked when the engine and vehicle would have official mileage numbers and was told June and this sounds about right to me. It stands to reason that EM has months of development and testing on both the vehicle and engines between now and June when they can do the mileage testing and get official numbers they will publish.

This timeframe also fits in with what we have heard before that it will take about three months between the time the vehicle hardware is locked down and when production can begin as the suppliers need time to finalize their production schedule. If the vehicle and engine are done in June three months later is September.

Stop being a Wayne!!!!
LOL and if you think any NEW product isn't going to have problems you are in for a surprise.
Just because some testing may be done on the shelf real life (in the car) testing isn't the same.
Just check out the ESTABLISHED motor companies and all the recalls. And they are SUPPOSE TO BE PRO'S.
I can hope that these boys are better that the ones before them.
