My wife is from Oregon and with all the things you mentioned you failed to mention the low number of clear sunny days. That's why we now live in New Mexico. More than 335 sunny days a year and it doesn't have all that dampness.

I love the Pacific North West. I did my undergrad at Evergreen in Olympia WA. I still have friends down in Eugene and Bend, I loved it down there when I visited.

My brother used to live in Albuquerque (Sandia Heights) when he worked for Conoco, I remember the summers and winters being fairly rugged when I visited. I preferred the winter over summer, since I start to cook at anything over 75.
