I plan to pay for my Elio with change. Every day I empty my pockets and dump the change into a 5 gallon water bottle. At about a dollar a day and over the past 15 years, I estimate $5000 in there now. Might have to name my Elio "Penny". I cannot pick up the 5 gallon jug anymore.

PERHAPS YOU CAN GET A CUSTOM COPPER COLOR ELIO .
BE CAREFUL WITH THE JAR . I HAVE HEARD OF THEM BREAKING WITH THAT KIND OF WEIGHT IN THEM .

My jug is actually a plastic one, but it would be a mess if it split open.

I need to accelerate my deposits this year to $3 per day to get Elio 20,000 (approximately) off the line next year. Woo Hoo!

Take it to CoinStar, it may cost a percentage of it, but sure beats counting and rolling all that change.

WE HAVE BANKS THAT OFFER THE SERVICE AT NO CHARGE .
IT GIVES TO A PRINTED RECEIPT WITH THE TOTALED AMOUNT THAT
YOU CAN TAKE TO THE TELLER FOR CASH OR DEPOSIT .

Our bank does the same thing..............NO COST !!

(the last batch I did, had a screw in it, which of course they returned AND they returned a Canadian nickel ??? )

A lot of banks here won't take it unless it's rolled and a sheet with totals.
Some other banks won't take change over $100

This could also be part of the reason why:
"The company was founded in 1991 as Coinstar, Inc. and is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington."

Outerwall aka CoinStar

It would be interesting to know what the added value of the $5K in change in the bottle would be calculating compounded interest over the 15 years.
