I meant the front, not the back....
He is talking about the front; they are a Kammback design; the important part to Aero is what is presented to the wind (front edge) and the flat area at the back of the fender is the Kammback; as close to the ground as those fenders go they present a flow like the bow of a boat.
Air is like water in that respect.
Since there is no way for the air to strike anything but a smooth rounded surface it is very aerodynamic.

Yes, I understand that it is rounded...top-to-bottom on the front; however, as seen from the front, it is relatively flat from left to right. Top-to-bottom makes sense, left-to-right just seemed sub-optimal on the front -- to my untrained eye....

Have you seen one of the Elio in person yet? They aren't flat on top.

And just as an FYI; the number you have as a reservation # isn't. That's your transaction receipt number.
SIL's only go to $1K All In, and get mailed out about every 6 to 8 weeks; next one is in July.
If you've done any other amount, you don't get an SIL ...... yet.

Please pardon the crudeness of the models -- I only do relief work.... Left is how it seems (roughly) and right seems like it would have just a little less resistance.... Top picture is dead on from front, bottom picture is with the model laid back a bit....

So, I was wondering what the Standard fenders would look like without the black plastic skirting. To find out, I opened up the Configurator, screen-captured both fender types, then layered the Retro fender underneath the Standard (after deleting the skirt).

Even though I didn't bother photoshopping out the Retro fender, I think it gives you a pretty good idea of how cool the standard fenders can look without the skirt. But the lines on the Retro fender also add some pretty need flare, don't you think?

As a note: I think going without the skirt might cause rocks/mud to get flung all over the side, so it's probably a bad idea. But it looks cool!

i wonder how it would look if you put the right fender on the left side and vise-versa?

Since we're talking about the Elio; let's look at Elio pictures
Here's a view, rear towards the front

And the front view; the curve at the top does go all the way from the front edge to where you see it above

It may look flat in the front, but it's not. You can see the curve in the front in the reflection.
That's why I asked you if you've seen an Elio in person. (Which you haven't answered yet)
