Note that the other 3 companies on start engine are not showing their progress.

Well, Elio has some experience via the Approved investor program and the reservations -- and they have national press coverage. I don't imagine the others have the same base of assurance. And maybe it's because we have a tiger by the tail!

About the only thing you can do in this case would be require real-life validation like a drivers license or social security number (and then check that it's valid and the information provided matches) or send the user off-site to a verification service before allowing interaction, which isn't free. Another option would be to require a refundable downpayment on the amount from a valid credit card, but then that gets seriously thorny because you're handling money related to the campaign now and have to worry about chargebacks and disputes etc. They've probably gone with the optimal course here.

The other reason for testing the waters is that each transaction costs $20 payable to startengine.com. That's the fee Elio pays to use the platform. You wouldn't want to raise, say, only $500,000 via 250 dollar pledges -- a complete bust, and you'd be liable for $40,000 in fees PLUS your cost of creating the campaign. Ouch! So doing it this way, even with a percentage of frauds, makes sense.

EM's goal is 84..............the DOE needs verification of the P5's ACTUAL mpg on the IAV engine. Hopefully, it meets the minimum UEV 75 mpg highway requirement. It only makes sense to wait for a running prototype before they can verify requirements and approve the loan. The ball is in EM's court to get the P5 built and tested.

If I was the head of the ATVM loan committee, I would require MPG verification by taking taking the P5 on a 2 day ride and drive before I approved the loan.
Lovely idea -- but they use technicians for that kind of thing, and there's a set protocol for mpg testing that they have to follow.

Wicked good questions! I hope EM is ready to file and put the money to work as it rolls in.

I think EM is pushing very hard right now, and I think there's likely good reason, my personal assumption is that DOE has indicated to EM that if they can show them that the production prototypes do what they say, they'll get their loan or though I think less likely at the moment, possibly a private placement from Corporate Fuel Securities has made a similar request for proof of concept. But that's just me.
Maybe wishful thinking, but NOT magical thinking. You may be onto something here. And yeah, we haven't hears a lot about Corporate Fuel lately. My guess on that was that it fizzled, Elio being just too speculative for the really big boys to play.

We don't know the terms for the offering through JOBS Act, we do know the terms (knowing ones SIL and percentage) for upping ones reservation :pop2:
JEBar has a good point -- I wouldn't expect much return on my $500 investment in the company, but I sure as heck know what maxing out my reservation for the car would do... and it's the same money in Elio's pocket as buying the stock would be. But the stock has a different feel to it, for sure. Owning a car is one thing, owning a company something else again!

Watching the ticker click click click, Shows me what a toothpick I am. All these people interested in putting down big money just so I can have a pretty vehicle. Thank You.
We've been on edge lately with the Greece trouble. Waiting for it to hit the fan here in the US. Last night's air traffic was super busy between the airforce base in Vienna and the army base in Ravenna. I hope Elio moves quickly. We need something more than that stupid flag to talk about. Sorry for the rant. This Manic Stuff is way too much.
