My brother isn't into vehicles for the most part, and works from home (Anti-hacker for IBM...sweet job!). He only knows about the Elio because I sent him on a 'recon' mission when the P4 went to the Broomfield (CO) mall last year...He lives about 10 miles south in Westminster, CO. He saw it, but didn't feel like standing in a long line to check it out closer. He just saw the ad and thought I might have gotten mine already (sadly...no, not yet.)

I don't expect to see the DOE ATVM Loan decision made until after the P5 is actually built and tested for the 84 mpg claim. Good and wise government.

Actually, the ATVM Loan application requires EM to meet very specific requirements and it seems the government is wise in this case to have EM's claims regarding the Elio verified with a tested P5 powered by the IAV engine to document the 84 mpg claims made in the application process. This is exactly how responsible government should operate.

Actually, the ATVM Loan application requires EM to meet very specific requirements and it seems the government is wise in this case to have EM's claims regarding the Elio verified with a tested P5 powered by the IAV engine to document the 84 mpg claims made in the application process. This is exactly how responsible government should operate.

The ATVM (Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing) UEV (Ultra Efficient Vehicle) standard is 75 MPG highway.
So why would they hold Elio's feet to the fire for 84?
Unless it's just one of the anti petroleum bigots in the DoE flexing their muscle.

Very nice. That's what the announcement was supposed to be about, though they didn't mention anything about the $25m. It may work like change.org where once it hits a certain threshold the progress bar updates to the next number up.
