Last friday investor site, Seeking alpha had short story about new automobile startup. May explain some of that recent activity?

http://seekingalpha.com/news/2623295-meet-the-new-u-s-automobile-startup

If you read comment section, at least some Tesla motor-fanboys seems to be "threatened".
The ignorant yelling at the ill-informed. I wish people who spout would at least do their fact-checking. Reporters and fanboys are getting equally sloppy. Grrrr. The magic words that set all that off were "motorcycle" and "Harley" and "Tesla". Oh, for pete's sake.

So I apologize in advance for my ignorance as well as my laziness in research, but what is this crowd funding thing? So I tell them that I'm willing to cough up $250 bucks at some later date. I am not obligated to ever pay that, correct? So at some point in time, they want to collect on that money, then I pay them and I now own stock in the company?
Is that how this works?

7:30 AM 87% of goal $21,870,926 5474 investors. Almost exactly a million a day right now,.
I see your 87% and I raise you to 88% Reserved $21,966,526 interest received so far 5496

It's still early here in Arizona time, so yea, just 30k more and bang! we'r at 22mil. $30k doesn't look like a lot of money right now does it! But to my pocket book, yep it gets there.

We've definitely slowed down since Friday and Saturday. One more big blast of news in the financial papers / blogs would help get us to the top.
I can bet someone out there is writing their article now, and as soon as they see 22m, out it goes. It's Monday and the investor crowd will be reading their financials about now.

Elio is basically offering everyone to buy stock early on. They are gauging public interest by soliciting pledges. You shouldn't pledge unless you are willing to purchase the stock when offered at the amount you pledge. Sure, it's non-binding. Sure, you could pledge a huge amount and back out later but that really doesn't meet the purpose. If you'd like to own a piece of this company (and possibly history), now would be a good time to do so.
