I've been holding back and my wife's been holding me back from buying a motorcycle but this one's got her approval! I'll get the optional hard panel enclosures/doors then I can call it my personal "MyPOD" :D I don't want Apple suing me if I use "iPOD". ;)
My wife and I considered a Harley Trike during a midlife crisis, but it would have been an expensive toy and we came to our senses. We are both on board the FUV purchase.......'ourPod'.

Just placed a deposit, cannot wait for ELio
Congrats on your no risk FUV reservation. Fun to have a made in the USA funride option while waiting on Elio. With that said we are still waiting on the options :), but at least they are starting Signature Series deliveries.

That Arcimoto looks like a ton of fun. If the soft or hard sides work well for all weather commuting and if Elio and Sondors (in that order) do not pan out, I can definitely see one in my driveway. My commute is 76 miles round trip, so a 130 mile range gives me plenty of spare juice to drive fun and run a couple errands on the way home.

An inherently flawed comparison. For mass market acceptance, you can't say "it's safer than any motorcycle ever made". It's the kind of answer a politician would give. You know that the real answer makes you look bad, so you answer a different question that you think makes you look good.

Mass market acceptance can only come if people buy them instead of cars, not through people buying them as some kind of safer-than-a-motorcycle-but-still-a-motorcycle thing.
  • These are marketed/sold as cars that just happen to have three wheels, not as motorcycles that have a third wheel.
  • People buy them because they are cars, not because they want a motorcycle but these are "safer than motorcycles".
The fact that they have motorcycle titles is a loophole that will be closed *very* rapidly after the first couple deaths from three-wheeler accidents. And the attendant lawsuits from the families who believe they were misled about the safety of the vehicle they bought will probably put them out of business.

EM's plan of making sure that their vehicle has all the safety systems (or as at least as many as are possible) required of four-wheeled cars is the smartest, and most forward-looking plan.

I got a 2nd pleasant surprise when Arcimoto answered my inquiry regarding my estimated FUV delivery and told him that I just made a reservation late Dec. last year. Here's his reply:

From: Kyle Hayek

Hi _____________,
Thanks for placing a reservation. As for the time frame on your FUV, the current estimate for your vehicle is around early-2019.
I understand if that it's a longer wait than you were probably hoping for, but I am available to answer any of your other questions regarding the FUV.
That leaves the SOLO as the one to wait this year for me if everything goes well for them.
