Thought of this after seeing one of our most valued members using a wheel chair. I wonder how easy Elio can be made to work with only hand controls. There is a gentlemen at my work, who can't walk without extreme assistance, but once in his car, drives along as smooth as can be. I'm certain his car is hand controled.

Also, wonder how easy it would be getting in, storing a wheel chair or braces, etc etc.

Something nobody likes to think about, but could happen to any of us at any time. And for new users who have a disability.
There are a lot of variables involved. I was in a chair for 6 months 30 years ago with no use of legs. But I would do 20 one handed pull ups, so instead of the predicted 6months in rehab, I was out in 2 weeks and driving in 4. Individual conditions dictate individual solutions. I envision a rack on the side for a foldup chair in a cover. Hand controls and off you go. Most gimps like me, can solve their own problems better than so called professionals. Design the solution and have it built.

New message from Elio Motors about the Supplier's Summit. Summary: teamwork is important, and we had a productive meeting. People are now doing additional work to refine plans.
Fluff value: 100
Total news value: zero.

read the message and got the impression that they have something to say but based on past experience want to be beyond dead sure before they say it .... hope that is the case, time will tell

That was also the "Momentum" news letter which is always fluff; before anyone passes judgement we should wait until a real news release about the meeting comes out. My guess is that it will be out by or just before the first of September.

I'm pretty sure you're right, that major news is pending. How could it NOT be pending? There's a car a-building, a "credible" timeline they're working on, and the ATVM in the wings -- not to mention the actual disclosures for 506c and Reg A+ campaigns (see Chris F's posts in the crowd funding thread for that).

But for right now -- nada, despite EM's claims they would shortly be announcing things. That's OK. What's not OK is putting out fluff. Fluff does not keep promises. Fluff does not enhance credibility. Fluff doesn't build your reputation with the serious press. Fluff is empty calories, pure and simple. As a matter of principle, it's bad communicating. I had responsible jobs in this field for more than a decade, and I waged anti-fluff campaigns -- to the great improvement of effectiveness of communication. But companies don't want to keep silent rather than emit gaseous burps.

Have nothing to say? Then don't say anything. Raise expectations by promising "news, soon"? Then meet those expectations or face the wrath of the faithful. EM is not doing themselves any services by putting out fluff. Grrrrr.

it helps me to keep in mind that the focus of those "fluff" releases isn't those of us who pay close attention to day to day info .... they are directed at the vast majority of folks who are newbies and/or who aren't members of forums like this .... about the best analogy I can think of is advertising in general .... companies don't run a successful commercial once

.... probably not, because ATVM rules say an ATVM loan must be to a company with full (non-ATVM) financial viability, which EM doesn't have, and very probably won't have anytime soon.

They are, at least, making progress and showing they are taking in money already... seems self sustaining (sort of) already. They are making progress without real loans.

Your opinion of what it says.
What it actually says is...............
"In order to be financially eligible for an ATVM loan, an applicant must be financially viable without the receipt of additional federal funding for the proposed project." ............ from ----------> http://energy.gov/lpo/services/atvm-loan-program <-----------

I think the key part may be ..........."without the receipt of additional federal funding".............

Quit trying to spread FUD.
